April is fast approaching. What's so special about April?....Autism Awareness Month, of course!
We (the Crisp family and friends) have historically participated in the VIA 5K for Autism. In 2016, we raced as #TEAMAUSTIN to support Autism Awareness and the beautiful world we have come to know through this diagnosis. In February of 2017, Lily was also diagnosed with Autism. To celebrate both of our amazing kiddos and their unique and individual journeys, we raced in 2017 and 2018 as #TEAMCRISP.
Every year we have had the support of amazing people across the world. Students and Staff from TJAGLCS have come out to race or support VIA. Additionally, from a shadow run in Iraq, to teams supporting us from Fort Drum, Fort Bragg, and family from Michigan to Texas - we truly appreciate you all.
This year, both Austin and Lily will participate in the kid's race, and our family will walk/jog the 5k together. We invite you to join us in this event. You are also welcome to donate to our fundraiser. But if you do anything at all - please be aware. Awareness and acceptance are powerful tools. Please teach your children to be kind and know that other kids will be different - and that's okay.
I appreciate the steadfast support of our family, friends, and of course my JAG Corps teammates who have been amazing throughout our journey. You all help us stay strong and resilient through the beautiful chaos, and for that I am truly grateful.
